While most of our customers use Waterlox to finish wood, you can also use Waterlox products on non-wood surfaces, such as concrete and tile. They can provide extra waterproofing, richen colors and give a "wet" look to surfaces.

Let’s Get Started!

Concrete

Most concrete projects will required between 3 and 4 coats of Waterlox Original Tung oil finishes. The concrete should be allowed to cure for 30 days prior to being finished with Waterlox Original Sealer/Finish and should also be acid-neutralized prior to being finished.

Tile

Waterlox adheres well to unglazed tile or brick and deepens the color of the surface. It gives a glazed look and is great for waterproofing.

Testing is Important

Waterlox can work on many surfaces to add additional waterproofing, but testing is critical before finishing an entire surface. Removing Waterlox can be very difficult, as it will alter the appearance of the surface. Apply all intended coats to a small, inconspicuous area or scrap piece of cement from the project and allow to dry properly prior to the actual application. Final color effect is always influenced by the texture, porosity, and by the method of application, and will be difficult to reverse once finished.
